Overview

When you come to our office, be sure to bring along information or records relating to whatever payment methods you will be using. If you are new, you will need to fill out these forms before you come, please select the patient forms option on the menu to the left. Staff will help identify all of the possible sources to assist in paying for services to be provided. Specifically, it tells you what we need to file your claim for worker's compensation or commercial insurance.

Please note that we are included as Providers under a number of insurance and health plans. Our staff will be happy to verify eligibility and are able to submit your claim to your insurance carrier directly.

Normally, we expect a patient to make the co-payment amount, if any, required by their health plan at the time of service. Our staff can explain the regular billing process and timelines for your specific situation. Concerns about reimbursement should not deter you from seeking the quality orthopedic services you require. We will work with you to establish a payment plan that fits your circumstances.

Your Visit

When you enter our office, located on the main floor of the Van Demark Building, you will be greeted by one of our receptionists. They will ask you for your insurance card and the patient information sheet and patient history form that was mailed to you.

A nurse will begin the exam by reviewing your patient history form and taking your vital signs. Following the initial examination, you may have a x-ray taken followed by your visit with your physician. If your condition requires surgery or additional testing, our schedulers will work with you to pre-authorize your surgery and schedule the procedure.

When necessary, a surgeon may utilize a physician assistant or nurse practitioner during a surgical procedure. An additional fee will apply for that surgical assistance.

Patient education can begin with a review of our education collection on the website and will continue throughout your course of treatment.

You will find that the entire team at Sanford Clinic Orthopedics & Sports Medicine are eager to serve you and will provide the very best in orthopedic care. Our specialties include: total joint surgery, sports medicine, hand surgery, upper extremity, pediatrics, foot and ankle surgery and spine.

We also serve as medical consultants to Sanford Sports and the Sanford/Augustana College Athletic Training Program and serve as the team physicians for Augustana College Athletics, as well as the Sioux Falls Roosevelt and Lincoln High Schools.
